If you want your personal name, club name or company to appear instead of a toll-free number, here are a couple of options:
1) an easy way is to instruct the person you are texting to add your number and name to their phone contacts, perhaps after the first message you send them. Then whatever name associated with your texting number will then appear as your contact whenever an SMS or MMS message is received from your number.
2) another option (that does not involve the contact you are texting to do anything) involves you setting up a vCard that will appear to the person every time you text the contact. It's very professional looking and after the initial set up you are all set every time you text. Here are the steps:
- First, create a vCard with all the information that you want your contact to save on their phone. You can create these either on your phone or in Outlook or you can even do it with Google Contacts. If you add your company logo where the the photo appears, your logo will also appear in the message window. Make sure to use the same phone number that your StringPing message will be sent from and instead either a personal name or company name, which ever you want to appear for the incoming text. Once you create it you can either send it from your phone to your computer by email or by Airdrop or if it was created in Google contacts click on export and select vCard. Here is an example of a vCards made on an iPhone for the USPTA.
Once you save the vCard to your desktop then import it to a file sharing service, such as Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox or Google Drive, then copy the url so it can be shared with others via an SMS campaign.
If you don't have a file sharing service then you can follow the steps below to use the File Picker tool in StringPing.
Go to your StringPing account and choose Message then Send Bulk SMS. Then Click on the red box where is say "Pick File" this will open up a File Picker folder.
Drag the vCard into the "Drag and Drop" section and click on "Upload":
This will create a link to your vCard that you can copy save for sharing with your contacts:
Copy and save this link in a message template so you can access it in the future:
Next, add the link to a group message with some kind of text that invites your contacts to add your contact info their contacts. For example: "click on the link to add us to your contacts so you don't miss any of the new updates and announcements". It's also a good idea to include the link in any new groups so they receive the vCard link automatically.
This will allow the incoming texts to display a number and company logo as shown below:
