It's super easy to add existing contacts to your StringPing database
Step 1 - Make sure that your file includes the import information in the following proper format:
First Name and Last Name must be in the same column with a space between them. Here is an instructional video if you need some help: https://youtu.be/jtcKjKh51jk?si=-u9LV8AL3DlnIHG9
Phone Number must include no spaces, dashes (-) or parenthesis (). Use the "find and replace" feature in Excel to clean out the unwanted spaces, dashes and parenthesis.
Any additional information that is found in contact form in StringPing can also be imported such as birthday, email address, address, city, and state provided they are in separate columns. Most users usually import the name and mobile number and email if it is available. Make sure you have a name for each field in the column above them as this is necessary for matching the fields in StringPing
Step 2 - If you're working in Excel or Google Sheets you will need to save the file as a CSV file.
To do this in Excel, go to "File" then "Save As" and change the File Format to "CSV" then hit save and save in a place that is easy to find.
To do this is Google Sheets, go to "File" then "Download" and select "Comma Separated Values (.csv)"
Step 3 - Ready for import - go to "Contacts" in the StringPing dashboard, then "Import Contacts" then "Choose File", and don't forget to click on the box "Yes, these contacts are 100% opt-in"
Step 4 - Map the data - Select the "group" that you want the names to be added to. Here you will match the "Name" column in your CSV file with the "Name" column in StringPing, then match the "number" column with the "number" column in StringPing.
* It is important to keep the country code visible in field before the numbers IF YOU DO NOT have the county code in your phone number.
IF YOU DO already have the country code included with your number then remove the default country code from the field in front of the number and scroll all the way to the top and select the "--" to avoid the double entry of the country code. Match all the other fields if you are importing additional information.
Finally, make sure to scroll all the way to the bottom of the screen and hit "Save"
The data should appear in contact section of StringPing.
